The video below explores how the Art Institute of Chicago’s Imaging Archives used solutions from DT Heritage to digitize their collection of rare and delicate film material. For this particular project, the Archives focused on degrading, large format cellulose acetate negatives that showed symptoms of vinegar syndrome and channeling. An instant capture methodology that forgoes flattening the friable negatives between glass was deemed the safest and most efficient way to digitize these materials before their content was lost to further physical deterioration.
